Hi Frances, of the Cooma Visitors Centre.  Just thought I would follow up on our stay at Cromwell House. This is a ‘First Class’ facility with a great deal of attention payed to the finer details, for example:- Steve Allen is most welcoming and took time to point out the features and heritage of this fine old home.

  • The rooms are spacious
  • The decor commensurate with the era
  • The bed excellent Water, fruit and ‘Port night cap” in the room
  • Bathroom spacious and meticulously clean, fluffy towels and all the nice soaps & cleansers
  • The lounge rooms are very relaxing for that evening ’lay back’.
  • Breakfast was as we like it, fresh and healthy.

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be booking in the next time we pass this way.

“What a fantastic weekend my wife and I had in Cooma. It was our first visit to the area and we really didn’t know what to expect, but were very pleasantly surprised! Steve Allen’s directions to his B&B were spot on and we were delighted with what we saw as we pulled the car into the driveway. A beautifully presented home from the outside was surpassed once we walked through the door. Steve told us that he had just renovated/decorated and we have to say that he did a fantastic job. We saw pictures of the home before he started work on it and you would hardly believe that it was the same property. Everything from the colours chosen, the furniture and general decor, right down to the finishing touches all work wonderfully well to make you really feel at home within a short time of arriving. Did we mention the comfy leather sofa in front of the roaring fire? Or the bedroom, which was so comfortable that my wife slept for 10 hours straight (which hasn’t happened in recent memory).

The grounds were a complete surprise, with so many secluded nooks in which to hide away from the world with a book, or a drink.

Breakfast the next morning was probably the best we have ever had. Steve even let me collect the eggs from his 3 chickens for our breakfast. (I never knew that all the chickens lay their eggs in the same spot every day.)

The stay fulfilled the main requirement of a holiday, which is to provide a complete contrast to day to day life, and to return home feeling at peace.
A wonderful experience which we will be repeating the next time we come to Cooma.  In fact we will return to Cooma just to stay at  Cromwell House.”
